A standout among Avatar's best installments receives an exclusive Magic: The Gathering collector's set.

Typically, clip shows face criticism by fans as a pointless diversion, or sometimes accepted as essential in television during the period of regular broadcasts. That wasn't always the situation, and Avatar: The Last Airbender proved it via "The Ember Island Players," a cherished installment during its concluding run which is now receiving an exclusive Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop.

Information regarding the Secret Lair

The full Secret Lair superdrop for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender edition was revealed recently. Containing five separate collections, and although the one called "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly humorous tribute to the series' most famous minor character, the other collections seem somewhat less imaginative, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players."

Inspired by the seventeenth episode in the final season of the beloved series, this collector's drop includes these particular cards:

• 1x Braid of Fire
• 1x Cursed Mirror
• 1x Mask of Memory
• 1x Thespian's Stage

What makes this installment is special

Viewers of Avatar clearly recall this episode, which acted as a summary of Aang and his friends' adventure leading up to the conclusion. In contrast to other recap episodes, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" did not stem due to production constraints or scheduling problems. The creators truly wanted to provide audiences an opportunity to recap the series' story, but they decided to do it creatively.

In the episode, the main characters watches a play inspired by their adventures at a playhouse on Ember Island, called The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is inaccurate, cheesy, and overall hilarious. It works since it plays on the characters' views about themselves, juxtaposing them against how the world (and particularly the antagonist nation) sees them. It has the right amount of introspective humor, and it ends up arguably the finest interpretation of Avatar available to date.

Value and pricing

In terms of value, this represents an excellent Secret Lair for one simple reason: Braid of Fire. This particular card is valued between $20 and $40 on online marketplaces as of now, and for $29.99 you can obtain the complete collection, or $39.99 for the foil version.
