Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
