“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”

He further emphasized that the gesture was entirely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he remarked. “It was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”

This is not the first time an NFL owner has been fined for misconduct. Previous examples involve:

• Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
