Three In Contention for Young Sports Personality Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The finalists were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be revealed live on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.

The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for this award again is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and surged to prominence with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin came in second place in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be named a finalist for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
