Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Police Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant persisted following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences online, saying in part: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The shooter opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the hotel seized a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was arrested, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was discharged from care, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, friends, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
