Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Updates

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
